If any of Duradek’s products are to be applied to an existing structure, accommodations can be made. However, a bit of preplanning in remodeling job or new deck design can ease application and help assure maximum performance.
First, it must be remembered that the membrane has to extend up any inside wall, and be covered with siding or flashing, or be secured and waterproofed by some other means.
This means that doorways and trim materials should be kept at least one and one half inches above the deck level to allow for membrane turn-up. In most cases the vinyl should be applied before the siding, which can be lapped down over it. To Provide 100% waterproofing.
Second, the membrane should extend out over and down any exterior (drainage) edge. This may or may not (depending upon what is below and the deck design) require a drip deflection device. Where exterior drainage is not possible our dealers can provide special drains or scuppers.
Decks should be designed with a minimum drain slope of one inch over each eight feet to avoid pooling and puddling of the water.
If possible, railings and structural supports should be designed to fasten to the outer edges of the deck. This provides more usable room and avoids having to puncture the water proofing membrane. Caulking must be applied to any screws to fasten top mounted railings.

It’s hard to believe something so beautiful needs so little maintenance.
Caldek can also install composite decking which has exceptional design and wood-like qualities only add to the beauty of having a low maintenance deck. What’s more, composite deck boards cut, drills and screws similar to wood with no special tools required. Our deckboard is always straight and uniform, never warped or crooked, ensuring a smooth installation every time.
9/10 Review on Homestars.com - We had a tear in our third storey decking which happened to be over two bedrooms. Because of this and possible water damage we were put on priority to finish the job ASAP. Of course weather in Calgary (summer 2016) wasn't exactly cooperative, but Caldek did the under deck repairs, put on a temporary patch and replaced the Duradek as soon as the weather cleared up. Cost seemed a bit high, but overall I was happy with their work and the results!
9/10 Review on Homestars.com - Dealt with Marc in the initial stages, very professional, good to deal with and seemed knowledgeable (their competition wanted 100% payment upfront, Marc was much more reasonable to deal with). Spencer and Rick came to do the install, and put a long day in to get everything wrapped up in the one day. The installation was done very well with great attention to detail. They identified one problem that required some extra labour, which I authorized up to a certain amount, and the extra charge came in roughly half of what was authorized. I would do business with them again.
10/10 Review on Homestars.com - "All work was finished on time. Any small items were attended to immediately. The installers were very professional and coordinating with Brian in the main office was very efficient. Brian contacted us upon completion of the project to see if there were any remaining issues to be looked after. Very satisfied with the workmanship and quality of the products used."
